Diary of a Mad Black DJ 208: Happy International Women's Day for Hip Hop Heads

I wanted to put together a list of essential hip hop albums by women artist. There are many versions of this for male artist, so much to the point where I've memorized most of them. (The Top 5 always includes Reasonable Doubt, Illmatic, Ready to Die- and then it branches off from there based on the era or region in which the person grew up.)

I figured I should make a list based on women creators for a person that may be curious about what women emcees/rappers are out there now; OR someone that may not have had a proper introduction to BOTH genders of hip hop. If that sounds like you, or if you're just a hip hop connoisseur, then this is a great thread for you.

First, this list is in no particular order! Okay, maybe there is some order...I stand behind my top 5..but that's also not in any particular order, aside from the top 3. Lol. Okay...

HAPPY INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY.

I hope these albums are as good to you as they each have been to me.
